TOP-10 Attractions in Dubai

Page update - Sep 30, 2022

The Emirate of Dubai is the place with record concentration of sightseeings and entertainment venues. It is very hard to list them all so we want to introduce the ten most interesting and valuable for tourists.

Starting September 28, 2022, the Emirate of Dubai canceled the requirement to wear face masks in stores, trading centers, restaurants, cafes. BUT! Masks are still mandatory in transport and in many indoor attractions. Be careful to avoid fines.

10th place - Burj Al Arab Hotel

One of the highest and most luxurious hotels in the world, the height of the building is 1,053 feet (321 meters). It is located on a small artificial island 500 feet (150 meters) from the shore, making the building visible from almost every beach in Jumeirah. The blue color design and sail shape have made Burj Al Arab a well recognizable symbol of Dubai.

For tourists, there is not much use for this landmark. Excursions involve only a short stop next to the hotel to take pictures in the background. Those wishing to be inside can book a room, the price for the best deal is USD 1,000 per night. The regular price is from USD 2,000 per night.

Another way to get inside is to make a reservation at one of the restaurants in the Burj Al Arab. The best is at the Skyview Bar on the 27th floor. A table can be reserved by anyone, not necessarily a hotel guest, but advance reservations are required.

9th place - Legoland Park

Imagine an amusement park built from 60,000,000 pieces of toy construction blocks. For Lego fans this is a "must see" attraction.

The park has 40 rides for visitors of all ages. The most extreme is The Dragon Coaster, a roller coaster up to 52 feet (16 meters) high with a maximum speed of 37 miles per hour (60 kilometers per hour). The park consists of two parts - an amusement park and a water park.

The amusement park is divided into 6 thematic zones: KINGDOMS, IMAGINATION, ADVENTURE, LEGO CITY, FACTORY, and MINILAND. In the LEGO CITY zone, children can have a ride in one of 45 electric cars, learn traffic laws and get LEGOLAND Driver's License.

In the MINILAND zone, models of famous UAE and world landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, are assembled from Lego bricks, with 20,000,000 pieces spent on these models. In the FACTORY area, you can see how the construction bricks are made and get your own personal Lego brick.

If you want to take something away as a souvenir, then stop by The BIG SHOP, the largest Lego store in the Middle East. It always has all the new items in stock and maintains an assortment of over 600 sets of all series.

Park or Waterpark ticket - AED 295, Park + Waterpark combo - AED 355. See the actual UAE dirham (AED) exchange rates in our review "What money in Dubai".

Opening hours - from 10 am to 6 pm.

Read all the details in our review "LEGOLAND".

8th place - The Dolphinarium and Creek Park

Creek Park in the southeastern Bur Dubai area is considered one of the best places for families. The dolphinarium and few other entertainment venues are located there. Getting to Creek park is easy by subway - Dubai Healthcare City station is 1600 feet (500 meters) away from the park.

The main entertainment in the park is the Dubai Dolphinarium, where you can see not only dolphins and seals show, but also exotic birds show, walk through a mirror maze, watch a movie in 5D cinema and ride several rides.

Shows are held at 11 am, 2 pm, 6 pm. Ticket prices range from AED 50 to 140.

Wonderland amusement park is not working now. It will be completely rebuilt, the project cost 1.8 billion dirhams. It is expected to be something grandiose.

Children's City park is designed for children from 2 to 15 years old. Its building is easily recognizable by its bright lego-like style, although its creators call it an "educational center".

Children can study natural phenomena in different areas, perform physical experiments, visit the planetarium and see models of spaceships.

Working hours are from 9 am to 9 pm on all days except Friday. On Friday from 3 pm to 9 pm. Admission price from AED 10 to 50.

7th place - Wild Wadi Waterpark

Wild Wadi is considered one of the best water parks in Dubai, along with Aquaventure. The ticket price is AED 259 for an adult visitor.

JUMEIRAH SCEIRAH slide with a height of 105 feet (32 meters), BURJ SURJ group slide, 1,200 feet (360 meters) long artificial river and a wonderful children's area await visitors there. Wild Wadi has two wave pools - one for surfers, the second for those who like to rock quietly on the waves.

The "highlight" of the park is considered a Master Blasters slide, where guests are not only going down, but also going up, pushed by jets of water from the pumps.

It is accessible by subway - Mall of The Emirates station, then by cab (will cost AED 12-15) or by 81 bus. Find the subway map in our review "Dubai Metro".

Opening hours: 10 am to 7 pm in all months except November and December. November: 10 am to 5:30 pm, December: 10 am to 5 pm.

Read more in our detailed review "Wild Wadi Waterpark".

Admission is free for visitors of expensive hotels near the water park. By the way, given the price of the Wild Wadi water park, it makes sense to stay at one of these hotels for a day. Pay for a room for about USD 300, but the water park will save. Consider this option.

6th place - Mall of Emirates and Ski Dubai

The second largest mall in Dubai, second only to Dubai Mall. It boasts the largest Carrefour hypermarket in the city.

The figures are impressive: 2,475,000 square feet (233,000 square meters) of retail space, 630 outlets, 90 restaurants, fast-foods and cafes. It took two food courts to accommodate them all.

The mall has four hotels, including five-star Sheraton and Kempinski.

Mall of Emirates boasts the Middle East's first and so far largest artificial ski slope, Ski Dubai. You can go skiing or snowboarding there, children can interact with penguins, go bungee jumping or take a course of skiing skills. Ticket price starts from AED 150.

The easiest way to get there is by subway - Mall of The Emirates station. If you are vacationing in the Jumeirah area you can take a free bus that picks up tourists along the hotel line and brings them to the Mall of The Emirates.

See our detailed reviews of "Mall of the Emirates" and "Ski Dubai" for more details.

5th place - Deira's four famous markets

The Deira district is most famous in the world for its markets.

The most famous is the Gold Souq, which specializes in the sale of gold jewelry. Tourists do not often come there to buy gold, but just to see. Dozens of stores try to amaze visitors with unusual jewelry in shop windows.

Gold statuettes in the shape of turtles, camels and other animals, whole dresses of gold, bracelets of the most bizarre shapes. The fantasy of the goldsmiths at Gold Souq is amazing, and the view of such beauty is mesmerizing.

Read our review "The Gold Market in Dubai".

The second market, the Perfume Souq, is not only colorful looking but also colorful smelling. There they sell perfumes from all over the world and all brands. The prices are often cheaper than in Duty Free, the fakes are almost never met, it is strictly monitored by the authorities in Dubai. Tourists come there to buy bakhoor and Arabian spirits.

The third market, the Spice Souq specializes in spices. You can buy spices from all over the world. Tourists like to buy cheap saffron and Arabian mixture "Bezaar" at the Spice Souq.

The fourth market, the Fish Souq, or rather, there are two such markets in Deira, take your pick. You can see all the fauna of the Persian Gulf. It is not recommended to come there for those tourists who can't stand the smell of fish.

4th place - Atlantis Hotel: water park and aquarium

Atlantis The Palm Hotel is located at the farthest point of the artificial islands of Palm Jumeirah. The hotel is expensive - from USD 300 per night. The hotel has the large Aquaventure water park and the Lost Chambers aquarium, which any tourist can get into without having to book a room.

Aquaventure Waterpark boasts slides that go through shark aquariums, which increases the adrenaline rush. Read more in our review "Aquaventure Waterpark".

The Lost Chambers aquarium is not so large, it can rather be called a supplement to the water park. It is beautifully styled with the theme of the sunken Atlantis. See our review "The Lost Chambers Aquarium" for more details.

For a fee, you can interact with dolphins. Learn more in our review "Dolphin Bay".

To get there you can take the metro - Dubai Internet City station. Then you can take the monorail but it's better to take a cab (will cost AED 25-35).

The ticket price is AED 299 (water park only) and AED 329 (water park + oceanarium).

3rd place - the Burj Khalifa

The tallest building on our planet is 2,716 feet (828 meters) high and has 160 floors. The first floors are occupied by the 5-star Armani Hotel, and if you want to live in the Burj Khalifa, then prepare from USD 500 per night.

Tourists come to see and take pictures against the background of the Burj Khalifa and visit one of the observation decks. There are three of them: on the 124th, 125th and 148th floors. To go up the highest one costs from 380 dirhams. In fact, it is one of the most expensive attractions in Dubai.

In 2022, the observation deck offers an interesting view of Dubai's construction sites, the city looks yellow and many tourists find it boring. Is the experience worth the 380 dirhams? The question is open.

The easiest way to get there is by subway - Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station. A covered pedestrian bridge leads from the station to the Dubai Mall and from there you can use a special passage to enter the Burj Khalifa.

It is easier to buy tickets online through the official website. Keep in mind that the ticket is purchased for a specific time, and we do not recommend being late.

Read our detailed review "Burj Khalifa".

2nd place - the Dubai Fountains

Located in the artificial lake Burj Khalifa in the heart of the Downtown area. They are the largest dancing fountains in the world, in this matter Dubai has surpassed even Las Vegas.

Watching the Dubai Fountains show is free, for this reason we put them in 2nd place in our rating. There are two shows during the day at 1 pm and 1-30 pm and nine shows in the evening from 6 pm to 10 pm. You can watch from the promenade near Dubai Mall or Souk Al Bahar Market.

Another option is to make a reservation at the Armani Hotel restaurant at the Burj Khalifa, where you can see the entire half-arc of the fountains perfectly.

Fountains cost Dubai a record 800 million dirhams, the fountains raise up to 100 tons of water in the air simultaneously, and the height of the jets reaches 500 feet (150 meters). To visit Dubai and miss such a show is unforgivable, especially since it is free.

Getting there is convenient by subway - Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station. From there take the pedestrian bridge to Dubai Mall. Then go out on the promenade, the fountains will be in front of you.

For the best place to see Dubai's fountains from, read our review "Dubai Fountain".

First place - the Dubai Mall

The largest shopping mall in the world. Total area - 12,100,000 square feet (1,124,000 square meters), the total retail area - 3,760,000 square feet (350,000 square meters). More than 1200 stores and 200 food outlets.

Dubai Mall is known more for its entertainment component than for its stores. If we talk about shopping, it is just at the Dubai Mall prices are always inflated.

You can see sharks and other fish for free in the aquarium through a record-huge glass, and for a fee go to the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. Read more in our review "Dubai Mall Aquarium".

Across from this glass is the world's largest candy store, Candylicious, with candy from every point of the globe. You can see the chocolate tree and the record-sized Pick and Mix wall. Read more in our review "Candylicious Dubai Mall".

After all these activities, you can relax and unwind in a restaurant to the sound of water from the famous waterfall, which has become a landmark of the Dubai Mall. Read more in our review "Dubai Mall Waterfall".

In addition, the Dubai Mall offers ice skating at the Dubai Ice Rink and a real dinosaur skeleton. All these activities, together with the 1,200 stores, put the Dubai Mall at the top of our ranking. Read our review "Dubai Mall" about the mall itself.
