Dubai Marina Mall

Page update - Sep 30, 2022

Where is the Dubai Marina Mall? How is it convenient to get there? And is it worth the trip at all? What entertainment venues and stores are inside? How to find the the liquor store inside? Read the answers on this page.

This page was updated on September 30, 2022. Starting September 28, 2022, the requirement to wear masks in malls, stores, and catering facilities has been removed. You can now walk around the Dubai Marina Mall without a mask. However, even before many people used to walk without masks, but there was a theoretical risk of getting fined. Now there are no risks.

Is it worth the trip or not?

The Dubai Marina Mall is small by Dubai standards, with only 390,000 square feet (36,200 square meters) of space on four floors. By comparison, the Mall of the Emirates has 2,370,000 square feet (220,000 square meters), and the Dubai Mall has 3,760,000 square feet (350,000 square meters) of rentable space alone.

The Dubai Marina Mall is for sure interesting for vacationers in the Dubai Marina area because of its proximity. But for vacationers in other Dubai districts, it is no longer of great value.

Despite its modest size, the set of stores in the Dubai Marina Mall is wide. It will provide something to do for one evening for both adults and children. But first things first.

Official website of the Dubai Marina Mall

It exists in Arabic and English. The website is not very useful, because there is not much information, and even no map of the mall. We will tell you more and more interesting things on this page.

The first useful page on the official site is the page with current and upcoming events, the address is

These events are sometimes useful and profitable to tourists. For example, at the time this page was updated (September 2022) there is a "Maje FW22" event - a big sale with discounts of up to 90% in Maje stores.

Find your flight

The second potentially interesting page is the offers, but 90% of them are only for residents of Dubai, they are useless for tourists. The address is

4 main questions

The four main questions of tourists: "Where to get the mall map?", "Where to eat?", "Where is the supermarket?", "Where do they sell alcohol?"

These are the questions we will answer first. And we'll talk about shopping and entertainment after them.

Map of the Dubai Marina Mall

You can get the paper map at the information desk right at the entrance.

There is no map on the official website, there is only a store locator. If you want to understand in advance the location of the desired store, visit the official website and enter the name of the store in the search bar (the icon with a magnifying glass).

Where to eat?

The range of eateries in Dubai Marina Mall is not the widest - about 20 outlets. The fast food outlets are concentrated in the food court. The restaurants are scattered all over the mall, and this is not convenient.

The food court is on the top floor (level 2). There are McDonald's, KFC, Doner&Gyros, Cinnabon, Tortilla, Pizza Hut, Hardee's. There is a Guy's Burger Joint inside the cinema.

On the P level (lower floor), there are: Carluccio's Italian Restaurant, Le Pain Quotidien organic eatery, Vivel Patisserie's Cafe, YO! Sushi sushi bar, Wagamama Asian Restaurant, Tashas artisan restaurant, EETEN home kitchen.

There's also a Bateel store on the P level where you can buy elite date fruits and date candy. Read more in our review "Dates in the UAE".

On Level G (second floor) there is Caffe Nero coffee shop, Five Guys burger shop, Shakespeare and Co pastry shop and cafe, Starbucks coffee shop, Coffee Club cafe, Zafran Indian restaurant.

Where is the supermarket?

The Waitrose supermarket is on the P level (lower floor). The grocery prices are higher than the Dubai average, but not by much. Read our detailed review "Grocery prices in the UAE".

The supermarket has its own cookery and bakery, which is very convenient - you can buy full meals to go, and it is cheaper than in cafes or snack bars. There is a big department with baby food. The interesting thing is that there is a pork section which is rare in the UAE.

Where to buy alcohol?

The liquor store is called "African + Eastern". It is located on the B2 floor (aka Parking L1), which is the underground floor just below the P level. Near the Waitrose supermarket, there is a travolator, you have to take it downstairs.

Despite amendments to the laws on November 8, 2020, there is still the liquor license system in Dubai. Now there is a simplified procedure for tourists to get the liquor license. The license is issued by the foreign passport, so do not forget to take your passport with you. The validity of such a license is 30 days. The employee in the "African + Eastern" store will make it for you (for free).

We remind you that despite the amendments to the laws on November 8, 2020, drinking in public or even being drunk in a public place remains a crime in the UAE. Read more in our review "Alcohol in Dubai and Other Emirates".

Liquor prices in the UAE are high. For example, a 1 liter bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey costs 320 dirhams, at the time this article was updated it is USD 87 or GBP 76. For whiskey, cognac, rum, tequila, brandy and gin, the prices can be three times higher than in the US, UK, or EU countries! For current exchange rates, see our detailed review "The UAE Dirham".

However, there is vodka for 30-40 dirhams for 0.7. So everyone can find an affordable drink.

Where to change currency?

Al Ansari Exchange office is on level G, to the right of the entrance. The exchange rate is very good but there is a commission.

To get a better understanding of currency exchange, read our review "Where and how to change money in the UAE".

Where to buy a local SIM card?

DU and Etisalat offices are on the Level 1 floor. There used to be an Axiom Telecom store where you could buy SIM cards, but it closed recently.

In most cases, local SIM-cards are useless for calls, but for the Internet they are very useful. Read our detailed reviews "Internet in the UAE" and "How to call from the UAE".

Little Explorer Children's Center

Unfortunately, the Little Explorer Center is closed for now. Will it reopen? Or will there be another children's center? We don't know.

This is one of the highlights of the Dubai Marina Mall. It is a large playground where children play and learn at the same time. Recently this format has been called "Edutainment".

Little Explorer has been voted the best educational and entertainment center in Dubai for two years in a row by Time Out Dubai. Now there are only two Little Explorer centers in the UAE, the second is located in the City Centre Mirdif also in Dubai.

The price is also at a premium - 149 dirhams for 2 hours. A child and 1 adult go through. For current exchange rates please see our page "The UAE Dirham".

The center is divided into 3 themed zones: WaterZone, PlayZone, SpaceZone. There are also 3 workshops: Arts&Craft, Culinary, Special Workshop which are charged at AED 29.

Reel Cinema

The cinema has 6 auditoriums, including the Reel Premier large-seat auditorium.

Children's events

Take place under the atrium. Workshops and games for children are held there almost every weekend. The last big event was in August 2019, with a large Play-Doh playground. These events are usually timed to coincide with holidays, the Play-Doh event mentioned was timed to coincide with Eid al-Adha.

Perhaps at the time of your visit to the Dubai Marina Mall something similar will be taking place. See our review "Holidays in the UAE" for the natonal holidays calendar. Although it is unlikely that something will be held, as mass gatherings are prohibited by covid-safety rules.

How to get there

If you are vacationing in a hotel in the Dubai Marina area.

Then take the tram to Dubai Marina Mall station. The fare is 3 dirhams, pay with your NOL card. As soon as you get off the tram, you will immediately see the Dubai Marina Mall, it is difficult to confuse it with something else. Use the overpass to cross the road. Read our detailed review "Dubai Tram" for map of the tram line.

If vacationing in other districts of Dubai.

You need to take the subway to DMCC or Sobha Realty station (called Dubai Marina before 09/09/21, called Damac before 11/25/20), no difference. See our review "Dubai Metro" for the station map, fares, and rules.

From there you can either walk 800 meters (2,600 feet) or take a tram for one stop.

You can take a cab from anywhere in Dubai, but it's hard to say how much it will cost - from 12 to 100 dirhams, depending on the distance and the traffic. See our detailed review "Taxis in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah" for rates.

- If you are going to the Dubai Marina Mall with children, then do not forget about the simple safety rules that we talked about in the review "To the Arab Emirates with children";
